Measure tape, measure your dog, standing, from the tip of the nose to the tail root. Add an extra 3 inches to this measurement. Take a second measurement dog bed with bolster from the top of the dog’s head down to the paws. Add 3 inches to this measurement. You now have two measurements. This is the minimum length and width the bed should be for your dog to be able to stretch. Determine how many pillows Shams will be needed by laying Shams next to each other until the total size is equal to or slightly larger than the measurements of your dog. Take a pillow and insert a firm foam pillow through the back pocket opening. Arrange the pillow inside of the bluff so that the fabric extends flat and the corners are filled.
Measure the length of the pocket edge and cut a piece of self-adhesive Velcro straps to this size. Pull the paper backed away one side of the Velcro tape and press firmly against the inner edge of the pocket opening. Remove the paper backed away the remaining side of the Velcro strap tape and press the top cover of the pocket openings properly on the adhesive. You have created self-esteem for your dog bed with bolster. Turn the pillow over and it’s ready to use. Place Shams’ top two sides together and hand or machine sew down one side as close to the edge as possible. When you’re done, you should have a larger public rectangle with two individual cushion pockets. Place a pillow in each bluff pocket and adjust until evenly distributed.
